About Kent DurdenIn the sixteen years that Lady was with the Durdens, Kent went from age 16 to 32. Between those years he had graduated from college and developed into a busy wildlife photographer. Kent and Ed contributed footage to a number of Walt Disney films including The Legend of the Boy and the Eagle. Kent also contributed footage to Ring of Bright Water and both he and Ed photographed wildlife sequences for several episodes of the"Lassie" television show.
Kent was on the lecture staff of the National Audubon Society and traveled all over the U.S and Canada showing his films. In 1974 Kent's second book, Flight to Freedom was published. Flight to Freedom was a fictional season-by-season account of what Lady's life may well have been like after leaving the Durdens. In 1975, Simon and Schuster published Kent's third book, A Fine and Peaceful Kingdom. I don't have copies of these last two books to sell. But, all of Kent's books are easily and inexpensively available thorough Ebay, Amazon and other used book sellers. You can find out more about purchasing Gifts of an Eagle here. Kent spent the last 30 years of his life building houses in the California Gold Country. He had his own contracting business and often made time to still lecture for Audobon and within his church community. Often at these lectures he would meet old school chums and people he had met doing the same thing 20-30 years earlier. I am sorry to say that Kent passed on suddenly in March of 2007. He was 69. |
